People who have taken a cruise for the first time usually end up booking their next cruise right then and there. You would be hard pressed to find someone who didnt enjoy cruising on their last vacation. But with so many destinations to choose from, how does one pick just one itinerary?

Most first time cruisers usually go to such destinations as the Eastern or Western Caribbean Islands. The islands are numerous and there is a wide range of itineraries sure to intrigue you. You can visit some of the popular cruise websites and research some of the destinations they offer. When you find an itinerary that pleases you that is the cruise you should take.

Some cruises go to the Bahamas, some to Puerto Rico. Hawaii is a popular destination as is Mexico. Most cruises last anywhere from 3 to 7 days, with a week long cruise being the most popular. If you are pressed for time, you might think about taking a cruise to Bermuda. You can also cruise rivers, Alaska, The Arabian Sea or even the Mediterranean. It all depends on you.

How to Pick the Right Cruise Line

Many of the cruise lines offer much of the same activities and itineraries, so how do you know which is the right line for your vacation? Doing research in this area will help to guide you to the right choice. Some cruise lines cater to families, others to singles and some to the older folks. When you are looking over pictures the cruise line posts, look to see what type of people are featured. This is usually a good indication of the type of people you will find on board.

Should I Choose by Price?

Of course some cruise lines are superior to others, but if price is a concern for you, your best bet is to find great deals on last minute cruises. There are plenty of websites you can search that will offer potential cruisers some amazing deals. As it gets closer to the embarkation date, cruise ships want their empty cabins as full as possible, so they are happy to offer unsold cabins at unbelievable prices. You will get all the same amenities as the other passengers; you will just pay far less for your trip.

What is there to do On board?

A better question would be what isnt there to do when you are on board a cruise ship. There are planned activities for all ages each day as well as a full menu of excursions for when you reach your port of call. You can choose from such exciting activities as scuba diving, snorkeling, sport fishing, jet skiing as well as a host of other fun sightseeing activities.

While you are on board, you can choose from activities such as dining, dancing, gambling, and many of the new cruise ships offer passengers golfing, rock climbing walls, open air movies and even for the little ones, arcades and water parks. You can take a daily jog, participate in an exercise class, or make reservations at the ships spa for a day of beauty or a relaxing massage.

There is no end to the possibilities when you decide to take a cruise. It isnt where you go, its how you get there and taking a cruise is an ideal way to pamper yourself on your next vacation.
