Background checks are performed mainly to establish trust like in cases of hiring companies. This will give them a more objective and technical reasoning on whether an individual will fit their job openings as compared to simple subjective selection based on face to face interviews. In fact, while people have already passed their interviews in flying colors, they may still fail to get the job when they get background checked due to poor records and character references.
